Without getting into nuances of federal law friendly foreign service personnel are afforded the same rights as US military personnel.

There are different rules for active duty armed forces personnel who are transferred under orders. 

It is not 'bad', but there are the predictable issues of dealing with tenants, property managers, maintenance issues or maintenance personnel, etc.

My plan at the time was buy a home at every duty station and eventually have maybe 3-4 properties with equity I didn't pay for.During my recent deployment the news came out that the Air Force is cutting personnel in a big way.

Hopefully, you will have some time to meet a few  of us newbie and other experienced personnel at the local Real Estate Investor meeting. 

They are constantly investing more into their services and personnel and really have not raised their rates the entire time (other than going from 2.5% to 3% payment processing fee when they switched to Stripe).   

Your biggest issue probably won't be marketing but personnel.

While I think that is a great place to find landscapers, snow removal personnel, etc...

Not to mention this would yield great leads for personnel real estate investments!
