A personal residence can be a great asset (depending on your market), but certainly isn’t an investment.At the end of the day, I would always rather own than rent if only for the psychological benefits of knowing that the mortgage payment is fixed and going towards increasing my equity rather than rent which should increase periodically and does not grow my assets in any way.
