Not that there was the slightest bit of evidence to support the accusation.  

It keeps me awake at night thinking about denying an application and then being accused of something that isn't true.How do you explain to someone who will see discrimination in any situation that it's just business, and that you were making the best decision for your bank account.Grrr.

@Mark Schneider at the risk of sounding like a know-it-all or being accused of being biased, you should be looking to find an agent AND a Property Management Company (PMC).They should work together to find an acquisition project where the PMC can manage the renovations, building and tenants for you.Asking an agent, or any specific person, to do ALL that is a recipe for disaster!

It'll be like spy vs spy or WikiLeaks, I gotta say the prospective mayhem fascinates me in this impending battle of wits. 

Another is to ride the appreciation wave we're seeing right now and I expect will continue in the near future, even if not at the same pace we witnessed in the last 10 years.For these reasons, I think house hacking is a great strategy for new investors and I question the assumptions about scalability.

They were also just hit wit a 10 billion dollar lawsuit from insurance giant AIG.

As a Realtor in that market, I've witnessed incredible gains by clients & you definitely have some options.

Looking for legal reasons to reject applicants is only going to lead to accusations of violations of their rights.
