Usually, they give you a warning to get them down and if you don't that can fine you for every sign.

I do not know how the court would have ruled but the unit would have been already rented out so I suspect the worse that could have happened is a fine.So this is a warning if you accept animals (and maybe even if you do not) there are places that will rubber stamp the service animal certificates.
