They are not really versed in the intricacies of tax preparation.Strongly suggest you purchase the desktop version versus the online version.CPAs are not infallible, they make mistakes too.

I have used Desktop and if you don't need payroll you can just buy any version of Desktop and use it for a very long time. the Updates for it are for new features and new Payroll Updates.

There are a couple often used accounting software such as Quickbooks, Stessa, Xero etcI personally prefer quickbooks desktop as its normally cheaper(in the long haul) vs the online version, especially if you need to use the class function.
