As is true with most other vacation destinations in the world, there are some good investment properties here and a number of bad ones.

Being in San Diego it looks like I stubbed my toe by not checking out just about the closest ski destination to me! 

A name I see a lot is  Destination Properties in Eden.  

You may have some market-specific benefits not considered here (e.g. very popular vacation destination), so do your homework and keep us posted.

I'm in Daphne, and invest all along the Gulf Coast including Baldwin County, AL all the way to Destin, and I'm connected to investors all along the coast.

This said, you seem eager, and if your goal is to "arrive" at your destination sooner, whatever that destination is, then I give you credit for the effort.  

I decided to invest in Waikiki for a couple of reasons-- One, Oahu gets the most visitors out of all the Hawaiian islands and when people come to Oahu, they generally stay in Waikiki; two, Waikiki is a very international destination so if the US economy isn't doing well, then I'm not too worried since I get visitors from all over the world staying in my units.
