I currently have no debt.As you might know, real estate in Switzerland is quite costy and I also feel like it is not a good idea for now (taxes).I was thinking of playing it "high risk, high rewards", by those, I mainly mean eastern European countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and as a second idea, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, even though they are next to some bully, they are in NATO, so should be ok, I guess.I know some of those countries do not allow foreigners to get a mortgage loan (Lithuania at least) and some countries have high interest rate (Romania, 7%).Here are my two questions: Does anyone have experience with those countries?

Although this remains a potential risk, it is more common to simply let the property sit until the redemption period expires if this scenario comes up.Regarding the appraised values, your master commissioner will likely have them.

.- Bureaucracy: European countries can have way more bureaucracy than the US, and laws are often favorable to tenants (they definitely are in Italy).- Appreciation is often slower than the US.

The County Commissioners have also been making changes to regulations for unincorporated Lincoln County recently, and we've been in a rental permit moratorium for about two years. ....needless to say, Lincoln County has become very unfriendly to vacation rentals over the last few years.Unincorporated Lincoln County is a high risk area for pursuing vacation rentals at this time, but the County is issuing permits for some zonings.
