Our goal is to someday soon be financially free, maybe own a couple rental properties.We don't know much about real estate other than what I've read and researched in Bigger Pockets podcast/books (waiting for delivery).

However, it has never taken more than one day for it to arrive after being ordered and many times it is same day delivery. 

I work full time with Amazon as a delivery driver, and i have a rental property for my first investment, witch got me hooked!! 

Always, Always start negotiation with a delivery of a notice to vacate (if applicable).  

Send it by email/regular mail and by certified mail/proof of delivery.2. 

The delivery people would need a fob or code to drop off package as long as the door is accessible to the outside

If you don't want the door, the politely say no thank you.Ask him when he wants the door and that you will come by in 2 week after delivery of the door to check it out (ie give him a deadline as to when it needs to be done).

Where in Houston have you gone to deal with this - is there a resale shop that offers delivery that you swear by, or a furniture rental company you always use?

Manage the deliveries better!

Since you're out of state, email it to him and let him know that the eviction process has commenced and then send it by certified mail with proof of delivery requested just to seal the deal.
