I've just finished my 50-ton, though it's more for deliveries and warm-water sailing gigs than hard sea time.

Do what feels right and allows you to sleep well at night and remember that it's expected that your plans will change over time.I'll leave you with this...when a ship sets sail across the ocean, the captain doesn't set the course and go below deck for 2 months.

I've talked to a couple tax professionals since then and been told that that boat has already sailed.

The hardest ship to sail is a "partner-ship"!

Was a little rough at the beginning, but as we progressed, everything was smooth sailing.  

I haven't had much luck with the Meetups, as most are either pitchfests or drinking buddies.Welcome to BP.... here and AZREIA are probably your best bets for now, plenty of education to be found between these two, with networking here and through your other options once you have some wind in your sails.

After that I decided to Facebook message the person, gave them the whole spiel about my offer and it was smooth sailing from there!
