Luckily, she was in the high school band and benefited by it and it's instructor.  

I've recently became a commercially rated pilot and am currently working in the aviation field while I pursue my flight instructor rating.

The instructors/speakers or educators will tell you that "it's not for everybody".

Esentially, you watch instructor led videos and follow along in your own work books.

Basing your selection of an instructor in business on quickly formed perceptions and assumptions are usually a mistake. :)          

I used Kaplan and was very happy with the instructors. 

I've read the guide before but it may be time for a refresher The process your martial arts instructor laid out is something I do believe deserves to be mutually beneficial to the mentor either through payment or some other form of consideration.

That's coming from a carpentry instructor, j/man carp, etc etc.

With a live instructor/teacher there will definitely be more of a chance for them to elaborate on concepts in real time if you have questions.
