I've started to wonder though if getting a license is possibly a disadvantage with all the legal exposure and notifications one must make when buying, selling, and renting your properties.

The person who drafted or supplied a contract has the ambiguities in it interpreted to their disadvantage.

I definitely need to broaden my network in this area, especially locally.The only disadvantage with my mom's home is I moved back into it, so if I sold it I would need the finances to get myself a home. 

And, generally speaking, the companies offering rates at the low end of the market do so out of some sort of competitive disadvantage.
