Words are meant to convey ideas, and when someone plays fast and loose with words and makes up flashy statements that twist reality to put more money in their pocket....we call those kinds of people con artists. 

I kind of do the same, but with a twist. 

How about Scenario 2 with a bit of a twist...What if you were to leverage that $50k by investing part of it into a BRRR and then hold the property as a contract for deed or seller finance deal instead of a rental? 

Relatives get accused of horrible things because the disease twists your mind and makes you paranoid because you can't remember. 

Buy a gently used set for half the price of a new one, maybe much less.

@Nicholas Daniels so, putting this gently, in pretty much any field of endeavor the question " Can I make a lot of money without doing any work?"

The only thing I can confidently say on the subject, is that, as far as replacing pool equipment , maybe I can shoot you a price that would help out with the financial impact, There are various pieces of gently used(some new) pool related parts/equipment here on hand, being as we operate a pool cleaning/repair business.
