It won't take nearly as many properties to support a frugal lifestyle in a cheap area as it will take to support a jet-setter lifestyle in South Beach or NYC.

And the cost for the jump from 1 million to 2 million to 3 million is approximately a couple of hundred bucks at each level for me the last few renewals (but probably much depends on your carrier, area, and risk profile--I am boring no jet skis, farmland, tickets, dwi, not a public figure or rock star)...

Using a ideas similar to this can help stack the odds in your favor to be in the right place at the right time. as some examples, I have created a number of rental packages such as fully included (cable, hydro, furnished etc) where I total all the bills based on the high-cost season and add $100 to each bill and total it all into the base rent.

I would count that as emergency because I do maintenance at an apartment complex and literally once the supply line breaks it’s a high pulsed jet and it literally will flood your entire place.
