Dishonest lender who didn't loan the money. Trying to get refund.

Hello Everyone. I recently tried to get funding from a lender for a purchase/rehab project. I paid for loan processing fee, which in hindsight I shouldn't have done but I did. I paid the fee and then he stopped communicating with me and never funded the money. I ended up losing the contract because of it. I friend of mine said that he thought there were federal agencies or some business's that help you retrieve your money when involved in a scam that help the consumer. Does anyone know of this and who they are? Would appreciate some direction or information where to get ahold of them.

Thanks

Marc

@Marc Long

Anytime a lender asks for an up-front "processing" fee, you would be best to think of a "Nigerian Prince" and walk away.
