I am new at this amazing forum but have been following for a while and of course a regular listener of the podcast.Looking to possibly do a 1031 and now we are trying to find a not too expensive NYC Real Estate Attorney that also acts as Intermediary, if that’s possible/advised?

Can anybody recommend a reputable Qualified Intermediary to help me with my 1031 Exchange?

However, unlike a 1031 which requires an intermediary and requires the specific cash from the sale to be invested into the exchanged property, the OZ regs do not require an intermediary and do not require that it is the same cash being invested.

They are not the bank and are strictly an intermediary for the transaction.

Hi @Doug Hinkle,At a minimum, IRS statue requires that you use a qualified intermediary (QI) to perform your 1031 exchange.

The first step in my mind would be to speak with a qualified intermediary to understand the process.

The reason is that 1031 requires the use of a unrelated 3rd party called the Qualified Intermediary. 

Also be sure to contact a qualified intermediary to assist you in the exchange as soon as you have anything under contract.Good Luck!
