Alot of what you said is common knowledge, but it is good to have these things drummed in to you again every so often.

While there are other ways to drum up business, yellow letters do work very well and is a tool used by professionals. 

It's a numbers game and you have to will likely have to send multiple thousands of cards in order to drum up enough business on a consistent basis.
