My partner and I are going down to Dayton next month because the STR ROI is pretty stellar.

If you get a stellar deal on a property and it means that your cashflow is very strong, it's unlikely you'll be able to offset the tax unless you do substantial capital improvements with accelerated depreciation schedules.
