On the other hand, I listed a room for rent and for 70 people interested all of whom were homeless, addicted to drugs, had kids from sketchy dudes, etc.

In all honesty, it makes being a landlord so much easier- there's nothing to agonize over with an applicant, no losing sleep over their story about how you are going to make them homeless, etc- they either qualify or not, it's simple.
