Many of those properties would be listed on MLS; just select multi-family properties on your search.Another idea in a similar vein is to look for single family homes that have either a mother-in-law suite or a garage apartment or carriage house.

Downtown has a lot of lots that are zoned as Two-Unit or Multi-unit housing and there are some lots that can also have a carriage house on them to further increase the number of rents available for that property.

A good compromise if she is not independently interested in real estate would be to look for a duplex that is 1 and 1 (not side by side, but a main house and a carriage house) or look for a single family home on a double lot that you could subdivide.

I think a lot of young Denverites open to house-hacking are looking for homes with basement or attic apartments or a home with a carriage house (or home zoned for a carriage house).

Somewhere with some kind of yard is desirable as we have two dogs.The biggest thing for us however is to have a small carriage house or a guest house or something convertible into a rentable/livable space.I like north county a lot does anyone have some good recommendations to start searching for something like this to buy in that area.
