Your agent may have a team member who can show you the place instead of the listing agent or can arrange with the listing agent and ensure their commission is safe and you're protected from an awkward situation. 

More importantly, if you're the one making the decisions and the tenant doesn't like the decision, then you're a #### and the living situation can get real awkward real fast lol.  

Many things can happen to a property, so it's important to plan for those things (even daily routines), even if it may feel a little awkward.

When the toilet did arrive in that spot it was/is awkward storage space as it is a PITA to get into.

I've heard that listing agents usually list homes for under market value just to see if bank would accept offer, but to me it seems like they putting you in an awkward situation because if they come back and say hey we want  market value it's like buy it for 230k or lose 3k and start over.

The size is a bit awkward (think: looks big enough for an island but is actually just too small to logistically have one).

It would be 1,000x less awkward to ask the internet than the surviving relative. 

Even then, you have things you can't decipher without actually going through the property (bad/good floor plan, tiny/huge/awkward layout bathroom).

It is a lot like dating in some regards - if either of you tries to rush the commitment, it can get awkward. ;-)
