Connecting the outside condenser to the inside head unit is a small diameter tube with heat transfer fluid (pretty much antifreeze, IIRC). 

It's only an issue if you have knob-and-tube wiring from the 1800s, which you likely don't.

Electrical - for example, some old houses around here have knob and tube wiring, which is very difficult to get insurance for, and is a legitimate fire hazard.

For instance you have chances of running into things such as asbestos, lead pipes, galvanized pipes, knob and tube wiring, etc.

There is a hole in the wall where the dryer tube, etc. is supposed to vent to the outside.

Inform the neighbor you are interested in purchasing the home; this will inform them you are not a bill collector and they may help you, especially if you offer some kind of referrall if they help you find the owner and you buy it.I just remembered I did a you tube video on this exact subject and gave some free websites and other information on how to guarantee you can find the owner for free.

They are really organized and are training libertarians to run for local offices - it made me feel like there is a glimmer of hope.Right now it's just really hard to watch the country go down the tubes!
