Be wary that realtors may be a little biased and promote their city since they would love for you to buy there using their services.CMHC's website also has a lot of data. 

As a property manager I am (naturally) somewhat biased towards keeping a property and renting but agree wholeheartedly above.

Plus I'm very bias toward apartments so if I were in your shoes I would look into passive investments through a syndication.

@Dustin Crawford I might be bias because I purchased a duplex 12 years ago for my first purchase but I can say that it was the single best thing I could do financially.

Ask all your friends, then ask what the contractor did, how much they charged, what weren’t they happy with, and especially if they’re a relative or friend (biased).

They track single family houses for large differentials too.I've fought back and gotten a couple partial wins, and one where they backed off and dropped it entirely.Even though the hearing is "informal", treat it like going to court with biased judges.

Some will come from people with only good/bad experience, so they give a biased opinion. 

There’s a psychological bias for that I just don’t know the name of it.
