If you want a successful short term rental, it has to be in an area with consistent tourism which the Myrtle Beach area is good for, but I don’t think too many people are going to want to stay a 25 minute drive from the beach.

Several reasons for this.There is an abundance of inventory available for prices far below what you can build a new property for.Tiny houses are going to dramatically reduce your pool of interested buyers and tenants.Short term rentals work best in vacation destinations with a lot of tourism.

In my area, if I bought, I would be trying to break even with long term rental and hoping for appreciation (which I know will happen) or with AirBNB I would be able to profit and generate a little bit of cash flow for the area I could invest that has a lot of people flocking for tourism or to get away from the city.
