Can you imagine taking the time to find a new place, pay the despair, set up utilities, arrange for a moving truck/company, packing and unpacking everything, changing addresses everywhere, etc etc etc.

That would be a very good alternative to multifamily. 

On a separate note, I do not believe this farm yard has any strategic value for them... it's in a very corner off of a residential road that wouldn't do any good for trucking down or anything like that.

Alternatively, they can sign a new lease and save a lot of money.

But over a long enough investing period the numbers should more or less balance themselves out and become fairly reliable.As Bruce pointed out, the alternative is to buy and remodel a piece of crap house. 

You can also do other alternative investments such as, private lending, private placements and many other things.

I don't actually know anything about the towns south of Orlando and not on the coast, I'm just giving another alternative to the other ones suggested. 

Alternatively, you could suggest an owner financing transaction where they become the bank on the property and this way they get to collect a monthly payment all while getting a chunk of cash up front (your down payment). 

While yes the shares are private, it also protects them from larger funds shorting the company if it were public to drive the price down (which is why many list on alternative exchanges that do not allow for shorting).
