Buying Part of a Parcel Owned By Railroad (CN)

Posted

Hello!

A couple years ago, the CN railroad purchased a large parcel of land (40+ Ac) that included a small farm with a couple barns and an old farm house in one corner of it.  I would like to parcel off the farm yard from the larger piece of land, and buy it from them.  I have tried a couple times to get ahold of someone to do this, but I haven't been able to get much traction--I will admit, I quickly get distracted with other things and forget to follow up.

Is the right way to go about this just pure persistence, or have others had success buying from large corporations like railroads? On a separate note, I do not believe this farm yard has any strategic value for them... it's in a very corner off of a residential road that wouldn't do any good for trucking down or anything like that.  The main highway is on the other side which they have already cut access to.

Any advice/suggestions/etc would be much appreciated!
