The lease agreement states that we both have one. 

, because they had added a provision to their lease that conflicted with State law - even as there was no damage to the tenant!

I'll work on reviewing my state laws & getting something like that into my lease. 

@Kayla M. sadly as other have said, often out of state investors are paying more than is worth, and it can be tough to get back out of a deal.

@Cynthia Lee it depends on your state and local laws.Here in Michigan, we can accept partial rent payments up to the Writ status and have it not affect the eviction process.

Depending on the state, you will need a designated agent for your LLC, in that state.

These are good attorneys, one of them even spent over 45 minutes on the phone talking to me about options, as well as a personal discussion about fishing, so he clearly wasn't trying to dismiss me.If you have a case, you can file a complaint with the state commission.

No attempts to "pull one over" on anyone here--in fact this deal and partnership idea were brought to me by the other would-be investors (including the deal finder), because they're interested in making it possible for my wife and I to move closer to them (currently living in different states).
