Good question, my answer would be this: I am very sorry your father died, I will send you flowers and a card however your rent is due and if you do not pay it by ____ (whatever the grace period is in your state/lease) then you will incur a late charge, and the process for eviction will be started promptly.My advice would be, DO NOT let them think they can push you off and pay you later, it will become a constant thing.
