You don't need to know everything to get started; you need a foundation to build on, and the rest will come through experience and then refining your education.You can build a basic understanding of investing in 3-6 months.

I don't have a lot of experience, but I do have the ability to exchange my time, so that could be a form a currency that benefits them.

I would try to tie those experiences and skill sets to your REI path.

The best way to get experience is to do the thing.
