If you're doing a whole house where you're going to 'touch every surface', my opinion is that unless there's an overwhelming reason to keep something (historic or aesthetic value), you should basically just remove all the lead surfaces.

I see the potential, so I put up 3 smoke detectors, had someone clean it out and get it to a broom clean condition, and I had a tree company come and aesthetically trim the trees so that you could see the water.
