@Jacob Munson Make sure you include costs to furnish the place, kitchen stuff, linens, supplies, nice looking decorations etcI'd be curious what others have spent but my guess for a 3 bedroom house with a pool is between 30-40K from bare house to ready to rent.

@Jeremy Rosen I am a little interested in STR but have concerns about occupancy rate, chaos from being in the same building as the renters, and the capital to not only buy, but also, furnish the STR. 

If you're able to find similar properties on Furnished Finder or Airbnb/VRBO (30+ day stays) that could help gauge demand/pricing. 

Word of caution, furnishing a house isn't cheap and STR management is a part-time job. 4.
