Physics-wise, you get the heat of burning a candle in the room, no matter what nonsense you do to it.

On my periodic inspections I sometimes see candles set up decoratively inside the firebox and stockings hung by the chimney with care.

These being social references not political, but politics follow social demands.It was the beginning of "the great society", racial equality, expansion of health care, equal opportunity, voting rights, all during the reduction of nuclear threats and cold wars.That night, candles were placed in windows in East and West Berlin in honor of JFK, humanity overcame differences. :)

Its been around so long that farmers used to use a candle at the starting point to keep grade, check alignment, and dig them by hand for farm drainage.The county took it a step further and you can find clay tiles around 12" or bigger where there is alot of farm land.

In most of my properties there is an Austin feel - we use a lot of hand made steel planters and black rock gravel in the landscaping, metal roofs, and screened in porches. 

Candles get pretty hot near their end, that's probably the hottest they've endured.
