@Zack Lofton thanks - in 9 days we got the roof done on house and shed, back addition prepared for siding, soffits removed, inside demo complete, fence removed, all new doors and windows removed, furring strips put up alongside the house and siding started on the sides.

We are looking into how to reduce the sound transmission between floors.The ceiling had been furred down with 1x3s had a 12x12 ceiling tile installed over it.

We tell them to change the filters every 3 months, and every month if they have shedding pets since that stopped a furnace in only a month one got caked with fur, we inspect twice a year and do it then if not done.

Sometimes you find furring wood strips if you are lucky, other times you have to use plastic anchors, sometimes you cheat and drill into metal corner beads, sometimes you mount the brackets from the top, sometimes on the side, wherever you find a way to bite into something.

Furring out walls to increase insulation, using reclaimed and refurbished materials (see if your local Habitat for Humanity has a ReStore), and high efficiency furnaces are great ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the building.

You can then strap furring strips over the insulation (attached through the insulation into the masonry) and hang drywall or resilient channel and then drywall from the furring.Polyisocyanurate foil faced rigid foam runs ~R6/inch, while closed cell spray foam runs R6 to R6.4 and provides a better air barrier.Alternatively, you could stand-up a 2x3 or 2x4 studwall in-front of the masonry wall (leave a 1/2" gap between the masonry wall and the studs and spray the stud cavities (and space behind the studs) with closed cell spray foam.
