In hindsight, it's embarrassing to have wasted so much money on services that only wasted my time, caused unneeded stress and frustration, and resulted in no gain of knowledge.

They ignore where they could have been, if they'd had someone help them, because it's too embarrassing to admit to.  

These are usually small things, like a slow leaky toilet, some loose handles in the kitchen, maybe the shower diverter isn't working well (we have very hard water here so its common).While this is rather/sort of embarrassing, I THINK bBy getting them fixed quickly it actually shows that I a landlord that intends to maintain my properties and provide at least a decent place for my tenants to live.To save a bit of money, I change out the locksets on the door myself. 

There is usually always a reason for the way things are - more often than not people do not ask the simple “why” because they are too embarrassed, make assumptions, or simply prefer to ignore their knowledge gaps.

Meanwhile I meet the neighbor I have become friends with, and we chat a bit, she is embarrassed I am picking up trash.
