Some of the methods that I have used in the past to get rid of odors including the smell of smoke are baking soda, vinegar, ozone generators, activated charcoal, steam cleaning, and even opening windows to air it out a bit.

I haven't tried this but heard that if you place regular charcoal in a netted bag, place a couple bags in the air ducts and run the AC system, the smell would go away.

If you have a gusher of a water line, it's not prudent not to turn the water off, any reasonable child would figure that out.Filth and waste is broadly defined, it's not just what it sounds like but can include newspapers on the porch, paper plates in the yard or dumped wet charcoal from the BBQ laying on the ground.
