I’ve qualified as real estate professional since 2021 and just found a potentially good opportunity to acquire a property in Mexico that would make for either a solid STR and/or eventually our forever home.I’m completely new to acquiring a foreign property- how to finance, what purchase process looks like, how foreign STR is taxed, does real estate professional status matter, etc. 

I think it MAY save some $ when it comes to tax time - I think we would have a lot more deductions possible to take, she could possibly have REP status.

Of course the minimum status is superhost haha but i think a lot of guests don’t care about the reviews as much as hosts think about them.

At the time they filed Chapter 11, most of my money is actually in the status of "investable cash" in my account. 

You'll just want to thoroughly evaulate if that change in filing status actually makes sense for you.

It is rare that a super host will cancel a reservation because we lose our super host status if we do.If you read the STR listing description and its reviews, and choose accordingly, you don't normally encounter surprises.
