I own a STR in Big Bear and I was looking for a second unit in Idylwild or desert as Big Bear now is over saturated and the City is getting unpredictable regarding new regulations (speaking about a moratorium right now).

It's unpredictable and that's the problem.

Obviously this affects Airbnb hosts more than any other platform, but if that is the primary platform, then I would guess this has something to do with some of the unpredictability.  

If they will be going east of the mountains late spring would be better since the roads can be unpredictable this time of year, especially if they aren't used to driving in snow.Summer will allow them to experience a lot of the outdoor activities available since the weather will be drier and more things will be going on outside.

I do believe amazon, United shore and the other various companies have helped with the upswing of the market values but I dont believe it was un predictable prior to those companies being added.
