I purchased a used superduty crewcab for about 30¢ per pound that lasted me 5 years and ran on veggie oil (I put 100k miles on it and sold it for about as much as I paid for it) I purchased a car at an auction for $400 and then spent $800 trying to fix it, and $300 to dispose of it.

If you have more disposable income that should help get to retirement quicker and those funds could even be invested but again speak to your CPA and attorney as they can only give you advise.

I like the @Kyle J. approach.My employer does a 5% match so, duh, yeah I'm going to contribute my 5% and capture that.But the lion's share of my disposable income (and rental income) goes towards the next rental acquisition.And a portion of the cashflow from rentals goes into my personal IRA!
