Be aware the locals in Bermuda Dunes are not happy about the large increase in STRs that have popped up lately (and many are not doing the best job of controlling sound and related issues).Consider joining and making a donation to help protect local STR rights!  

I remember receiving an envelope with a dollar in it requesting some sort of business or donation as a kid.

However, just going on Facebook market place and searching “free,” you can find some goodies from people moving out or people who just don’t have time to take things to the local donation center.

SOooooo that means telling multi-million/billion dollar entities "uh uhm, ah yes, we decided you no longer own those properties, yes those billions in mortgages you hold, GONE, please accept this "yah USA" lapel pin for your donation".

Essentially i itemize slightly over the 24k today as im single with owning a home, donations, etc.

The other issue is charities in the area will not take donated buildings at this time. 

You could also consider a cell tower lease, subdividing in accordance with zoning or a family exemption, leasing land to farmers or grazers, timbering the land, or even "donating" the land through a charitable/conservation easement.
