Money is so tight for them that buying more sparring gear, paying for testings, traveling to tournaments, etc. takes all their money.Eventually they come to the instructor and say they no longer can afford the school.

I would get written proof of the contractor being unresponsive and making excuses and then tell him you're hiring someone else to finish the job unless he gets his --- in gear and completes it in a timely fashion.

This is a huge risk for $44kPersonally I wouldn't be buying anything right now, this is like gearing up to buy a house in 2006. 

Hopefully in that time, some of the government programs will kick into gear and provide them with additional income.

On the other hand, if you're planning to go pro, you might want to gear up with the top quality up front, despite the high price tag.
