I'd base your decision of full time real estate on 1) your current debt (student loans etc) 2) ambition - ability to "work on your own" and 3)whether you're living on your own or with your parents.

If you do take off for one year, though I would advise against that...as you need to keep your mind and ambitions a peak performances as good and bad times come- but that's your choice if you live on your own, I suppose.
