My mom, who not only cosigned to help me get approved for this home, she has also helped me out in part with my rent, and has been diagnosed by her doctor, after dealing with some stomach issues, that not only does she have some type of colitis or maybe something more, further testing is needed, but, she also has 2 holes in her heart, that will require surgery, and in turn will need to take medical leave from work beginning July 31st, which is the day of Her surgery.

The goals that I hope to achieve through real estate investing are: 1) to provide a cash flow stream for my mother as she gets older and requires assisted living or nursing home facilities, 2) provide a cash flow stream for my younger brother (who has Down's Syndrome) as he gets older and requires assisted living facilities and increased medical attention, and 3) provide a means of early retirement for me and my older brother.While listening to BP podcast #276 (my favorite) the other morning, I had that lightbulb moment of how to get started in real estate investing.

I think there are still probably some decent markets where you can execute a strategy like that in both the southeast and the midwest but they are smaller markets and harder to find.If you can find a decent secondary or tertiary market with good population growth where the prices still haven't taken off that would work.

We still live just outside of Dallas and own our own home with the mortgage paid off about 22 years ago.Unfortunately, when 54, I had some medical problems that have made me bedridden and I have plenty of spare time.
