The fire hazard was ridiculous as we replaced the fire detectors 2 years ago, but she said they were yellow and old.We are in VA. 

I would suggest buying Simplisafe or motion cameras to install in the house as it sits empty. 

The little stuff.First Aid kit, Carbon Monoxide sensor.Keep extra batteries locked up for remotes, smoke detectors etc.You or a friend should stay there for a weekend and you'll find out real fast what is missing.

I have all the above in motion. 

Use a volt detector to see if they are live. 

I think Tony Robbins said "Motion creates emotion."

Thats something that I am thinking about but more inclined towards not adding the washer drier.I was reading this book "Crushing it in apartment investing" and the author mentioned about adding water reducing faucets or motion detecting bulbs which will be turned off automatically.
