I am a landlord in MA and recently had tenants move out and cause damages to my property (soot all over the walls + holes which required extensive cleaning, patching and re-painting).I did have a security deposit, but unfortunately, I was not aware of the very specific security deposit laws in MA.

It needed about 80k in repairs due to fire damage which  probably explained the holes in the floor in the description of the property.

I am not sure why my situation ran into such a rabbit hole, but I found the answer.  21st Mortgage (for some states) will cut you a check for the sales tax that you pay to the Department of Revenue.

@Wayne Brooks I did not understand the technical details of what he says the problem is, so I won't try to say things that are probably wrong :) He said there's a hole in the line, but that he still isn't able to see everything and it could still be much worse.I completely understand that this can happen.

hello, I have just bought a property that needs a) fumigation (section 1), b) landscape grading to improve drainage, c) crawspace/foundation work to repair some piers and fix sump pump, and d) minor interior remodel and retrofit window.
