The only other things I would remember to factor in is the initial cost of furnishing the unit (obviously completely filling a unit with everything from a couch to TV to plates and cups and linens isn't cheap at the get-go.) and then the costs of expendables (toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, cleaning supplies, etc.)

Hey @Travis JunttiI agree with @Valerie Hiscoe.If you go with a multiplex, you can renovate the unit(s) not occupied by your family, move to the renovated unit, repeat as needed.That way, you give yourself a WAY better shot of not sleeping on the couch the entire live-in rehab.

Sure, it might look clean for a while and be one less thing you need to attend to each week (or so you think), but eventually those dust bunnies will peak out from under the couch again and you'll be left cleaning up ten times the mess you would have if you'd done it yourself, not to mention the money you'd be giving away for nothing.
