This is just me 'in character' as a heartless and soulless entity run by a board of directors representing stockholders. 

There are a lot of shady characters in this space...

Their honesty, integrity, character, etc.    

He may be a great friend; but that doesn't always speak to their business "character".  

Best to work with people who have a proven track record and are of good character.  

Last I heard the neighbors were protesting the latest improvements because they didnt want to lose the "character" through gentrification.I dont know what to make of the place.

He is an interesting Character, but motivational.

For me reasons include: better able to be a niche salesperson e.g. investors, in a metro area with a lot of opportunities to expand e.g. property management, loving the unique character of the region e.g. historic homes, wide variety of unique amenities, FOOD, and I've put in a lot of hours getting to know the local market.Small towns may have opportunity to dominate the market pretty quickly, but it also doesn't take many agents to oversaturate.

In Oregon for instance one city ban's nightly rentals  No Air BnB  you must have a permit to do this and they only give out a small hand full.This also illustrates clearly that when you buy rentals that are going to be section 8 your property is what it is and will never really go anywhere as for good bad or indifferent you are on the face lower the perception and reality of the area... so when you look at what's happened in the last 20 years were rental business has exploded into mom and pops you have whole sections of towns and cities that will go through and have gone through exactly what this article describes.The only time this reverses is if like this property its a big complex and the owners have the right to do this... or if its SFR in an area of a city that is regentrifing @Ben Leybovich  watching the move Thomas Crown Affair when I was on the stair master and the lead female ( Rene Russo) character was born and raised in Lima Ohio... how random is that.
