I have an existing  Note (Note 1) secured by a deed of trust in California on a  SFR (property 1).The borrower has agreed to bring in additional property  (Property 2)as a collateral  after Note 1 is completed  as a cross collateral.I will be recording a deed of trust as a cross collateral on property 2. 

Well unfortunately real estate is expensive here in the California.

I inherited properties in NorCal, but instead of being six hours away like the ones in the southern part of the state, these are 12 hours away, too far for us personally.In our case, the only due diligence we did was check for the location of earthquake faults on the State of CA's hazard site. 

I will be cosigning a refi for my parents in California, my question is the following.Once they sell their property am I still responsible to report on my taxes and possibly pay taxes on it?
