Does anyone have any opinion towards your first property being local to you or distant(other cities/states)?

I had previously in the mid 2000's been a casual realtor for my local growing city.I'm excited to learn and start investing in Real Estate!

As such I've hosted one small real estate meet up for local folks.

With how much the Raleigh area is growing it seems like there is endless opportunity down there but I have struggled to get traction due to my lack of industry experience and local network.I would love to talk with anyone who would be willing to offer advice or lend a hand in any way.

Specifically, the dramatic difference in purchase price and foreclosure rates in the States vs Canada.Granted, I'm sure that with enough digging, good investment options can be found in any market, but after a very quick comparison of my local market (Peterborough, Ontario, a city of under 100k about 1.5 hours outside of Toronto) with, for example, Buffalo, the price discrepancies are MASSIVE. 

Lastly, I am always looking to expand my network, especially locally in MA.

A local realtor can also tell you the general number (what city I can connect you with one who can do this by phone or email).

I have 200+ books in my audible library and they have helped me tremendously.If you're interested in attending a local REIA meeting there is a great one in Matthews, NC I attend weekly and would recommend.
