Usually, my "landscaping" work is basically to of course cut the lawn including edging and trimming as well as using some weed killer on the entire lawn so its not full of weeds and stuff, then usually my "landscaping" is some mulch and some various brightly colored perennials from Home Depot or one of the local garden centers and that's about it, other than one house.

Should be able to see through that kitchen wall out the back door onto the deck or garden area, that should give the perception of opening the room outside.

There is a roof garden on the second floor behind the apartment...I have a landscape designer to build and maintain that for readings and events!
