My idea was I could live there immediately and also do all the minor work that would not require an actual tradesmen, which would allow me to start building equity.

I had no idea they would decline me for MY OWN MONEY technically.

@Malcolm Brown it is great that you are thinking of the money to fund the deals you are going to get started with but understanding what a deal is, I think, should be the starting point.
