Post: What's the average cost of STR management?

Is it comparable to LTR management where it's ~10% of gross rent/month (Average in Canada right now)

What additional costs are usually associated with STR management?

I'm specifically asking about cleaners and maintenance people.

How do you find them?

Do you do a trial period to see if you click and they work well with your process?

Do you have a vetting process?

Do you have lots of back ups or are you loyal to a select few?

I appreciate the feedback!

Has anyone owned and self-managed their STR 100% remote?

What was your experience like?

What are the pros?

The cons?

Is it scalable?

Post: Where do you find tourism data to qualify a location for an STR?

I'm curious where you can find tourism data and trends on specific areas to help better identify winning neighborhoods for STRs.

What sort of strategies do you use when buying an STR to make sure you're in a strong location with a high chance of success?

Post: What Happens If No One Is Booking Your STR?

Assuming you're listing your property on AirBnb and VRBO,

Is it just a given that these properties will be booked out? (Assuming an attractive property in a good area with a good AirBnB listing)

Or is it common to have to direct your own traffic to an STR to really have it be booked out and profitable?

Has anyone had any experience with not getting any bookings from these hosting platforms?

If so, what did you have to change to see bookings start to come through?

Did you have to send traffic yourself?

Super curious!

Post: Are JVs Common In The STR Space?

I've heard of plenty of different JV splits and set ups in other real estate spaces, but is that common in the STR space?

A common thing, at least up here in Canada, is one person will put in the money, and the other will put in the sweat of fixing up and managing the entire property for a percentage of the profits.

Is this also a common strategy used in the STR space?

If not, why not?

If so, what are some of the different splits you've seen or heard about in the past?

Post: How Do You Stay Up To Date With STR Laws?

STR laws always seem to be evolving and changing, it seems like a full-time job just to stay up to date with the laws.

What systems, tactics, habits, etc have you found work well to keep up with the legal landscape of STRs in your area?

Do you work with a law firm? Do you have a VA constantly scouring legal sites? Do you use Google Alerts?

I'm curious to know what you do!

Thank you
